They’ll wed on Fa cup Final day, may 19

IT will be a game of other halves – as Prince Harry weds Meghan Markle on FA Cup Final Day.

Announcing the big match yesterday, a Kensington Palace statement read: “His Royal Highness Prince Henry of Wales and Ms Meghan Markle will marry on 19th May 2018.”

The choice of a Saturday – at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle – goes against the Royal tradition of weekdays and means no bank holiday.

Harry, 33, and Meghan, 36, are expected to parade through the streets of Windsor in a carriage after saying their vows at the stunning 15th-century chapel in front of 800 guests.

Canadian designer Erdem is bookies’ favourite to make the US actress’s gown. One missing detail is kick-off time – but there’s little chance of a clash.

At Wembley, the whistle to start the FA Cup is expected to blow at 5.15pm. And most Royal weddings start in the morning.

Only Prince Edward and Sophie, who also wed in St George’s, got hitched later, at 5pm – awkward for Arsenal fan Harry, if they make the final.

So a morning wedding seems even more certain. Gary Lineker yesterday joked this year’s Cup build up “will include the Royal Wedding”.

And the FA said: “With millions coming together to watch both events at home and around the world, it will be a day to celebrate.”

But, if anybody does happen to miss the wedding, it’s bound to be on Match of the Day.
