Now we’re in the dogfight moans Eddie
EDDIE HOWE admitted Bournemouth are in a relegation dogfight after his side were thrashed by Liverpool.
The defeat leaves the Cherries one point above the relegation zone and manager Howe revealed he has never felt so low after defeat.
Howe (below) said: “That was difficult – we didn’t perform individually or collectively.
“There have not been many times since I’ve been Bournemouth manager that I’ve felt quite like this after a match.
“I was up and down trying to change things but it never helped us. It was one of those games where we never got going.
“We’re in a difficult situation. It was the same in our first two years in the Premier League. The only thing that has changed is the perception and expectation around us.
“We were in a relegation battle in our first and second seasons.”
Liverpool swept the Cherries aside with goals from Philippe Coutinho, centre-half Dejan Lovren, Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino.
The crushing defeat extended Bournemouth’s winless run in the Premier League to six matches.
And captain Simon Francis shared Howe’s scathing review of their current drop towards the relegation zone, with bookmakers quoting them at just 11-4 to go down.
Francis said: “We’re in a relegation battle, we’ve got to acknowledge that sooner rather than later and we do acknowledge that.
“We’re going to have to show the fight we’ve shown before to get out of the area around the bottom three.”
