Hamill goes Wild for the Atlantic Way

Mark Hamill STAR Wars icon Mark Hamill has gushed about Ireland in a new tourism video.

The latest movie in the series Star Wars: The Last Jedi – partly filmed in Ireland – is already a box office hit after its release last week.

Hamill appears in the latest Tourism Ireland campaign highlighti­ng the Wild Atlantic Way.

The advert features a number of locations along the western seaboard, with Hamill addressing viewers: “Escape the dark side along Earth’s Wild Atlantic Way – the perfect place to get away from it all”.

From Skellig Michael to Ireland’s most northerly tip, Malin Head, locations were handpicked by location scouts for the film. AT least six people were killed in a horrific train derailment in the United States yesterday.

The train careered off a bridge while travelling at 80mph with some carriages being catapulted on to a busy motorway below.

They crashed on top of cars but all the dead were believed to have been in the train.

Ambulances took 77 people to hospital. Four of them were described as “critically ill”.

The accident happened in the morning rush-hour, 45 minutes after the train left the city of Tacoma in Washington State on a high-profile inaugural run on a new high-speed line.
