- BY NIALL O’CONNOR

HUNDREDS of mourners gathered last night for the removal of much-loved murdered pensioner Rose Hanrahan.

Grieving family and friends attended Griffin’s Funeral Home in Limerick city.

Her remains were removed to St Munchin’s Church, in the historic area of Clancy Strand.

The chapel is a short distance from the murder scene and the church where the 78-year-old regularly attended Mass.

Rose, who was married to the late Removal in Limerick last night

Michael Hanrahan, will be buried at Ballycannon in Meelick this afternoon, after the funeral Mass at 11.30am.

Gardai are continuing to trawl through CCTV footage and also carrying out door-to-door enquiries in the area.

Investigators have said they have hundreds of lines of enquiry and all detectives in Limerick are now working on the case. It is hoped that a critical clue maybe contained in the meticulous work performed by the Technical Bureau forensic experts at the scene.

Sources have said they are yet to name a suspect, however a number of possible people have been identified locally and there are fears of vigilante action.

It has been claimed a sum money was left untouched.

Her home was ransacked by her attackers and it is hoped in their panic they may have left some clues behind. of
