LUK, I’M THE MAIN MAN NOW

summer. But he believes Ibrahimovic refuses to accept his status as United’s No9 since the Swede returned from a knee injury last month.

Lukaku, 24, also complains Ibra has tried to take over his central role when he has come on, telling him to move out wide. The former Everton star is also disgruntled that Jose Mourinho has not pulled up Ibra, famous for his big ego.

Meanwhile, Eduardo Berizzo (right) will not be facing United in the Champions League last 16 after the Sevilla head coach lost his job yesterday – almost a month after undergoing surgery for prostate cancer.

The club website said he had been dismissed “due to the team’s bad run”.

Sevilla are without a win in three, having suffered a 5-0 thrashing at Real Madrid earlier this month, although Ernesto Marcucci was in charge for that fixture at the Bernabeu. JAMIE VARDY has been backed to shoot down Manchester United again today and pile on the misery for manager Jose Mourinho.

Leicester boss Claude Puel says he is expecting a goalscoring display from Vardy against United, who are still reeling from their midweek League Cup exit at Championship side Bristol City.

The former non-league striker boasts an incredible record against top-six clubs and is searching for his 50th top-flight goal – of which 20 have been scored in 39 games against leading clubs.

He has a 40% strike record compared to United’s Romelu Lukaku, whose is eight per cent after scoring just five times in 40 games against the top six. England hitman Vardy missed from the spot in the shoot-out loss to Manchester City in the League Cup in midweek.

But it was his penalty stoppage-time after coming on as a sub which took the tie to extra-time.

And Puel revealed he was keeping the hot-shot fresh for United, predicting: “He knows the next goal will arrive very quickly. Jamie likes to play against great teams and great players.

“This is why it is important to keep him with good fitness and give him good rest because he’s a valuable player for in us.” Vardy, 30, has eight goals this term and famously set a new Premier League record when he scored for the 11th successive game at home to United in November 2015 when the Foxes went on to win the title.

Puel added: “Jamie likes to play. He can not get enough of the football – he wants to play any game with tempo and quality.

“He is always available for his team-mate. With this positive attitude, he gives a good feeling for the team.

“He deserves to be considered as one of the top strikers. He is comfortable with the ball and provides good solutions, he is clinical.

“He has great quality and we are lucky to have Jamie with us. It is difficult for the opponent with his pressing and it’s difficult to defend against this. He also gives fantastic assists and is very unselfish.”

But record £30million signing Islam Slimani is facing the exit door in the January transfer window.

The Algeria star, signed in August 2016 from Sporting Lisbon, has not even made Leicester’s matchday squad recently and is wanted by Newcastle and Watford.

Puel said of the misfiring striker: “It is difficult for some players to find good game-time and there is sometimes frustration.”
