A LOTTO WAITING UNTIL €5.4M CAN BE PICKED UP

- BY SHARON MCGOWAN

IRELAND’S newest millionaire will have to wait another two days to collect their €5.4million jackpot.

Christmas came early for one lucky punter after Friday’s Lotto was snapped up.

The national head office, located on Abbey Street in Dublin city centre, won’t reopen until Thursday meaning the winner will be sitting pretty until then.

While the identity of the winner is still unknown, it is thought they are someone returning home for the festive season as the ticket was bought in the arrivals area of Dublin Airport. The winning numbers were 5, 14, 28, 29, 32, 38 and bonus number 31 and the ticket was bought in Whsmith in Terminal One.

The shop’s assistant manager Suzanne Mcdonald said: “There is incredible excitement here at news that we sold the winning €5.4million jackpot ticket. It is certainly adding to the Christmas spirit Whsmith staff at Dublin Airport in the shop and Terminal One in general.

“It has been a really busy period here with a lot of traffic through the store, and we have no idea who the lucky winner might be. But we wish them all the very best with the win.” Lotto bosses urged everyone who picked up a ticket for Friday’s draw to check their numbers to see if they’ve won.

National Lottery chief Dermot Griffin, said: “This was one of the busiest days of the year in arrivals and the ticket could have been brought by somebody coming home for Christmas, by a friend or relative meeting a loved one, or an airport worker.

“This is going to be a very special Christmas indeed for that lucky person.”

“This is especially important if it is somebody who is a visitor or not a regular player. Please check your tickets to see if you are the winner of this magnificent Christmas present.
