Players urged to check their tickets
THE hunt is still on for the winner of Friday’s €39million lottery jackpot.
The golden Euromillions ticket was bought in Ireland and officials are due to announce the shop it was sold in tomorrow.
National Lottery sources also revealed the winner of the €5.4million Lotto jackpot from December 23 has come forward.
The winner, who won’t be going public, bought the Quick Pick ticket at Whsmith in the Terminal 1 arrivals hall at Dublin Airport the day before.
Lottery spokeswoman Miriam Donohue said they have yet to have any contact from Friday’s winner or winners. She added: “We would advise people to check their ticket and keep it safe and secure because it’s a very valuable piece of paper.
“This has been an amazing year for our Euromillions players with three jackpot wins and 31 Euromillions Plus wins of €500,000 each.
“We are urging all our players to check their tickets to see if they are the lucky winner or winners.
“At this stage we don’t know if it’s a single winner or a syndicate. We advise anybody who has this ticket to keep it safe until they can get into the National Lottery office to make their claim.
“What a great way for a player to end the year and start the new.”
The lucky winner is set to pocket €38,906,715 after matching the numbers 4, 8, 22, 23 and 48 and the lucky stars 1 and 12.
It’s the third Euromillions jackpot won in Ireland in the past year – the most ever. Last January a Dublin work syndicate claimed €88.5million. The winning ticket was sold at the Applegreen service station on the M1 Northbound in Lusk, Co Dublin.
In July a syndicate from the West scooped almost €29million. A total of €171.9million was won on jackpots and Euromillions Plus in Ireland in 2017. Since Euromillions started in 2004 the country has had 12 jackpot wins totalling more than €613million.
