Punter celebrates rich success in New Year after landing top Lotto raffle prize
A LUCKY punter got the New Year off to a rich start after scooping the Lotto’s Christmas Millionaire raffle.
The Wexford player will enjoy a prosperous 2018 after landing the top prize with a €25 ticket.
Winning number 54239 came up trumps in the New Year’ Eve draw after being bought at Flanagan’s Centra in Castlebridge, Co Wexford, on Thursday, December 14.
Store owner Louis Flanagan said the prize was “incredible”.
He added: “It’s a dream start to the year for one of our lucky customers and I know it will bring a lot of excitement to the town as we extend our New Year’s celebrations.
“We are urging everybody in the area to check their tickets as soon as possible to ensure they collect this life-changing prize.
“Everybody in the shop is absolutely thrilled and we’ll be raising a glass to toast our lucky customer later today.”
But the new millionaire isn’t the only player celebrating the New Year with extra cash in the bank.
A total of 5,056 punters pocketed raffle prizes ranging from €500 to €1million, with winners in Meath, Cork and Dublin. A Cavan player is €250,000 richer after they bought winning ticket number 306241 from Tarpey’s Supervalu on Cootehill Road last Saturday. Pair make waves in Bray National Lottery chief executive Dermot Griffin said: “Congratulations to all our winners – what a way to start off 2018.
