TRUMP’S LOST LADY

President and wife Melania hardly ever see each other, explosive book claims

- BY CHRISTOPHER BUCKTIN US Editor

DONALD Trump wouldn’t see his “trophy wife” for days despite the fact they lived in the same house, a new book claims.

The US President’s “perplexing marriage” is laid bare amid allegations he and Melania spent little time together and only put on a united front when he won the White House.

Fire And Fury author Michael Wolff writes: “They could go days at a time without contact, even when they were both in Trump Tower.”

DONALD Trump could go days without seeing his wife despite living under the same roof, an explosive book claims.

Author Michael Wolff ’s tome alleges Melania often had no idea where the US President was.

The situation only changed when Trump won the election in 2016, forcing the pair to present a united front, it is claimed.

Fire and Fury, out yesterday, even suggested the leader barely knows their son Barron, 12.

Trump insisted the book was “full of lies”. He has branded its content “false and fake” and threatened legal action over it.

But Wolff hit back: “My credibility is being questioned by a man who has less credibility than, perhaps, anyone who’s ever walked on earth at this point.”

Trump’s marriage, from 2005, is branded “perplexing”. Wolff writes: “He and Melania spent relatively little time together.

“They could go days at a time without contact, even when they were both in Trump Tower. Often she did not know where he was, or take much notice of that fact.

“Her husband moved between residences as he would move between rooms.”

The author added that before becoming First Lady, most of Melania’s time was “entirely focused on her young son” Barron rather than her husband, who Wolff alleged is more or less an “absentee father”.

Wolff also claimed Trump liked to mock his two eldest sons’ intelligence, despite letting them run his property business.

Writing about Don Jr and Eric, from Trump’s marriage to Ivana, he says: “Their father took some regular pleasure in pointing out they were in the back of the room when God handed out brains.

“But, then again, Trump tended to scorn anyone who might be smarter than he was.”

Trump said the book was “full of lies, misrepresentations and sources that don’t exist”.

In a dig also at his former chief strategist Steve Bannon, quoted in the expose, he tweeted: “Look at this guy’s past and watch what happens to him and Sloppy Steve!”

And the President insisted: “I authorised zero access to White House (actually turned him down many times) for author of phony [sic] book! I never spoke to him for book.”

Wolff, who says he talked to 200 sources, told US talk show Today that he spoke with Trump on the record.
