MAN CHARGED WITH NEW YEAR MURDER

Court is told accused handed himself into gardai

A POLISH man appeared in court yesterday charged with the murder of a fellow countryman.

Marek Swider, 40, suffered fatal injuries at a house on New Year’s Eve and died the following day in hospital.

Tomasz Paszkiewic­z, 38, with an address at Dublin Street, Ballyjames­duff, Co Cavan, presented himself at a Garda FAIR City’s Aoibheann Mccaul has shown off her engagement ring after her pre-christmas proposal to Meath GAA star Brian Farrell.

The actress said Brian was there to offer his expertise on “the four Cs”. She told RSVP Magazine : “I always assumed I wanted a gold band with a solitaire because that is what all of my friends have – and they are gorgeous.

“Luckily, my other half knew station in Cork on Thursday. He was taken to Bridewell in the city where he was charged with the murder.

In Cavan District Court yesterday Sgt John Callanan said he arrested the accused and charged him.

He added Paszkiewic­z made no reply to the charge.

The officer said he offered everything about the “four Cs” so I didn’t even have to think about colour, cut, clarity and carat.

“Jewellers are encouragin­g brides to buy platinum but I wanted gold as all of my accessorie­s are gold.”

The soap star tried on a lot of rings in store but it was the first ring she tried on that stole her heart.

It sounds perfect and it is just like a ring that her mum bought her before.

Aoibheann added: “Eventually, I went for the first ring I tried on in there. It is a rose gold ring with an oval him the opportunit­y to have legal representa­tion but it was declined. Through an interprete­r, Judge Denis Mcloughlin told Paszkiewic­z he could apply for legal aid if he wished, but this was declined.

He added he could not release him on bail or hear an applicatio­n at this court. Paszkiewic­z was remanded in custody until Thursday. diamond and a halo. I know it is not going to be to everybody’s taste, but I love the fact that it’s different and unique – it’s just me.”

The couple have been together for five years and Farrell went down on bended knee after they enjoyed a romantic escape to Sri Lanka recently.

In the most romantic of proposals, he put together a special jigsaw puzzle with photos of them together.

Revealing the news, Aoibheann told fans: ”So this lunatic gave me a jigsaw a few weeks ago and I said yes.”
