Queen’s delight at pregnancy
ZARA Tindall and hubby Mike are expecting another baby, it was announced yesterday.
The Queen was “very pleased” by their happy news, which comes after Zara suffered a miscarriage in the run-up to Christmas 2016 .
A spokeswoman for the couple said yesterday: “I can confirm that Zara is pregnant with her second child.”
The baby is believed to be due in the summer and will be a sibling for Mia, who is four on January 17.
If born after the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s third child – which is expected in April – he or she will be Her Majesty’s seventh greatgrandchild.
The child would also be the 19th in line to the throne.
A spokesman for Buckingham Palace said yesterday: “The Queen and members of the royal family were very pleased to hear this news.”
Equestrian Zara, 36, and former England rugby player Mike, 39, are currently on a working holiday with Mia in Australia, where they have been spotted out dining in Sydney.
Zara, a former world eventing champion, has been involved with the Magic Millions horse racing carnival. The event is staged on the country’s Gold Coast and begins this weekend.
The couple revealed they had lost a baby on Christmas Eve 2016, just weeks after they had announced that Zara was expecting. Speaking about the difficulty of the miscarriage, Mike told a newspaper in May: “One thing you do learn is how many other people have had to go through the same.
“The saving grace for us has been Mia. However down we feel, she will come running up in our faces.”
Zara and Mike married in July 2011 at Canongate Kirk in Edinburgh with a reception at The Queen’s official Scottish residence of Holyroodhouse.
In January 2013, they moved out of their Cheltenham townhouse and into her mum Princess Anne’s Gatcombe Park estate.
Zara won the Eventing World Championship in 2006 as part of the Great Britain team and won BBC Sports Personality later the same year. She also bagged a silver Olympic medal at London 2012.
Unlike other royals, when she had Mia she gave birth at an NHS site. She weighed in at 7lb 12oz at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital in January 2014.
