WHAT: Radisson Blu Edwardian Heathrow Hotel. Rooms from €84 a night with free fast wi-fi. Stay, Park & Fly packages with 1nt accommodation and 8 days’ parking from €130. Blu complimentary breakfast deal on to February 25. radissonblu-edwardian.com
WHERE: Bath Road, a 20 minute bus ride from airport or about 10 minutes by taxi.
EXPERIENCE: A warm welcome and swift check-in was handy after a rail meltdown at Paddington meant I arrived much later than planned.
The room was modern with plenty of storage space, a Samsung Smart TV, a very comfortable VERTUE bed and a nice bathroom with an easy-towork shower (not all are). Despite the proximity to the airport, I heard no aircraft noise at any time.
While the newish Annayu restaurant’s classic and contemporary Indian cuisine looked (and smelled) tempting, my late arrival meant route one at the relaunched Steak & Lobster was the way to go.
This turned out to be a wise move as the 8oz fillet (€27) was as good as I’ve had, and I’ve had a few. Service here, and indeed throughout the hotel, was fast and friendly.
If you need a pre or post-flight tonic, the Pegasus Spa offers a sauna, steam room, plunge pool and relaxation room with complimentary refreshments.
QUIBBLES: The food, and the drinks in the chic Bijou Lounge Bar are a bit pricey. But, of course, you’re at a plush four-star
London airport hotel.
VERDICT: A very good Heathrow sleepover. If you can nail €84, that’s a great deal. Hard to fault. 9.5/10
