Snow on way as Ireland is set for year’s first big chill

Met Eireann added while today and tomorrow will be normal, the weather takes a turn for the worse from midweek with plummeting temperatur­es and heavy snow.

A spokesman said today will be “a cold bright day with heavy showers at times. Daytime temperatur­es will be around 5C or 6C in blustery westerly winds.

“Only overtake other road users when it’s safe to do so and remember that falling snow can severely hamper visibility.”
