Eight-try Leinster set for Aviva quarter-final after pool win

-

the Aviva. “We’ll see,” said coach Cullen, when asked where Leinster will play. “Generally the discussion has been that it goes to the Aviva.”

He also revealed that Johnny Sexton’s injury problem just before half-time was a back issue while Robbie Henshaw had carried a knock into the game.

Henshaw was replaced by

Rob Kearney early in the second half but, like

Sexton, should be available for the final pool fixture against Montpellier.

Cullen was pleased with another fine day’s work but is determined that looseness does not creep in.

The Blues still coughed up three tries and Cullen wants his team to get better with the business end of the season in mind.

“It’s important we don’t develop bad behaviours,” he warned. “It’s definitely something we need to keep working on. The semi-finals we had last year, did we have a ruthless streak in those games?

“Maybe we weren’t as comfortable as we should’ve been in that setting. “It’s about getting back to that place again, showing we’ve learned from the mistakes and we’re better prepared.

“We still have a huge amount of work to do to progress.

“The main thing is we need to focus a bit better later in the season so that the same thing doesn’t happen again.” Despite taking the man-of-thematch award, Leinster scrum-half Luke Mcgrath (inset) redirected the praise to the industrious home pack.

“The forwards were brilliant, they laid the platform for us in scrum and maul. As backs, we’re delighted with that set piece dominance,” he said. “We got caught out in the breakdown in the semi-finals last season against Clermont and Scarlets and so we have been working on that.

“All the forwards are happy with the ball in hand and it makes our play more exuberant rugby.”

Glasgow boss Rennie could only watch the unfolding annihilation in awe and admitted: “I thought Leinster were outstanding. They outmuscled us up front and used the ball really well. They were clinical and we didn’t defend well enough, giving them a couple of soft tries. It’s such a tough pool and for Leinster to be so dominant has been really impressive.”
