We’ve got a hole lot of bother

KIERAN KEANE believes it’s time for Connacht to avoid the holes they’ve been digging their way out of as a draw in Worcester sealed a quarter-final spot for the Westerners.

It looked bleak for Connacht after the concession of two tries in the first five minutes but they held the Premiership side scoreless in the second half and should have worked out a way to win in the final quarter after Tiernan o’halloran’s fine try and Craig ronaldson’s conversion levelled matters.

Tries from John Muldoon and Niyi Adeolokun kept Connacht in touch at the break, despite overlapping sin-binnings for Quinn roux and Jarrad Butler late in the first half.

That left coach Keane frustrated with his lot as he said: “It is a bit like kissing your sister. That’s how it feels to me. Not that I have got a sister.

“It’s almost humorous the way things started, six minutes and we are down 12 points.

“We couldn’t come out faster backwards in any shape or form. I am massively positive but the big issue is about how we dig these holes for ourselves – and we are pretty good at it.

“We have had a few honesty sessions, had some chats, a lot of debate and a lot of direction.

“But the time for chats is probably over now and we just have to get things right otherwise will make it too tough and probably lose.”
