Comedy still full of Grace

- WILL & GRACE

C5, 10pm

WHAT an utter relief to see that this show, back after 11 years, is still funny.

Quite often, reboots of old classics miss the mark and should be left firmly in the 90s, or whichever decade they came from.

But this sitcom hasn’t aged a bit and, aside from the dated, jangly scene transition music (you’ll know what I mean when you hear it), it still feels as fresh as it always did, perhaps with the help of a little Botox here and there?

Whatever ridiculous plot is unfolding, the on-screen chemistry between Debra Messing, Eric Mccormack, Sean Hayes and Megan Mullally still sparkles.

If they are not best friends in real life, I don’t want to hear it, it can’t be true.

“I don’t know if it’s raining or Tuesday,” says Karen (Mullally), squeaky as ever. “God, why did you make me a triple threat?” wails narcissist Jack (Hayes).

Yes, the gang are exactly as they always were – except that now they make jokes about Donald Trump and moan about young “twinks”. And tonight it gets better. Fans will be delighted to hear that Grace’s ex-husband Leo, otherwise known as Harry Connick Jr, makes a cameo.

Grace (Messing) is shocked to discover Leo is still her emergency contact number after having a biopsy at the doctors.

She runs to Will (Mccormack) for comfort, but he’s got his own problems – he’s just been to see the Princess Diana exhibit.
