Bernard & Marty are a class act

Comedian and sports pundit ‘like junior infants’ on DWTS

BERNARD O’shea has allied himself with Marty Morrissey, saying the pair are the underdogs on Dancing With The Stars.

The 2fm star has compared the duo’s dancing ability to that of junior infants on their first day at school.

Bernard told the Irish Mirror: “Me and Marty are going to get it, at the moment we’re not the greatest of movers because we’re learning.

“For me and Marty we’re kind of on a similar journey, we learn it like we’re on our first day in junior infants, like we’re learning the steps.”

The Breakfast Republic host, 38, said he pities for his professional dance partner Valeria Milova who has to put up with him.

He added: “I feel really sorry for Valeria, the poor thing, I’d say the first day she saw me she was like, ‘Oh for f**k sake, why couldn’t I get Jake, why couldn’t I get a decent nice dancer, or a good looking fella?’ Marty’s partner Kesenia and my partner Valeria have their work cut out for them, they have to drag us around that floor.

“They’re small women but my God they are strong, but I really feel I’m going to pull the arm off Valeria.”

Bernard, from Co Laois, revealed terror is the one thing which is keeping him in the contest.

FEAR

He said: “Fear has kept me in the contest, last week I just wanted to do one dance and not just a comedy act. The tango is really hard, thank God I never have to do a tango again, it’s the most difficult technical dance, even the professional dancers don’t like to do it.”

Bernard added he took it on the chin when judge Brian Redmond insulted his backside.

He said: “The salsa is far easier to do. You can move your bum, Brian said you’ve a big arse just get it Star pair hit the dancefloor on RTE show out of the way, he said my arse was dragging the floor.

“Look, if he was critiquing about comedy or script writing or whatever, but with dancing I can take it.

“Now I think people realise I can’t dance, I’m a complete novice, I have to learn it like I’m learning to read for the first time in my life.”

Bernard also admitted people have likely had enough of him ranting on the radio.

He said: “The 2fm listeners are probably saying shut up about this Dancing With The Stars, but it takes over your life.

“My wife works full-time with two small kids so sometimes this can be a pain in the arse for her and sometimes it can be brilliant.

“I’ve worked for the last 15 years in telly and I thought I’d seen it all until I did this show and this is a different kettle of fish it really is.”
