Dad’s €500k luck on Lotto

A DAD promised to pay off his family’s mortgage after claiming €500,000 in last week’s Euromillio­ns draw.

The Quick Pick ticket was sold in Lees Gala Store in Ballyhaise, Co Cavan.

He played down the magnitude of the win but said he can look forward to paying off the mortgage.

The Cavan man said: “It gives us the freedom to live our lives to the full and not worry about money.

“We might treat the kids to a nice holiday in the sun.” LEWIS plays the part of a detailobse­ssed fashion designer in his latest film and insisted on learning the trade.

After creating the character with director Paul Thomas Anderson, Daniel went as far as actually studying fashion while the script was being penned and learned how to cut and sew.

He even recreated a dress by fashion house Balenciaga.

The actor’s performanc­e has earned him another Academy Award nomination – his sixth to date. However, he admitted the role has also prompted him to call it quits on his acting career and announced his retirement last year. He’s up for another Academy Award for this movie THE Hollywood star turned his attention to becoming an expert in the ring after being given the role of Danny Flynn in this 1997 film.

In preparatio­n for the part, he tattooed his hand and trained as rigorously as a boxer at the top of their game – twice a day, every day for three years.

World champion Barry Mcguigan was the man enlisted to train him for the role and even said that the actor could have turned profession­al after all his dedication. IN In this famous film, Day-lewis portrayed the the role of Gerry Conlon who was wrongfully convicted for involvemen­t in the Guilford pub bombings in 1974.

Daniel shed a whopping 50llbs for the role and Daniel playing Danny Flynn As Gerry Conlon also spent 72 hours in a prison cell without any food or water to get into character.

He also underwent mock interrogat­ions and is also rumoured to have eaten nothing but slop while shooting the film.

There isn’t much that Daniel Day-lewis won’t do to get into character for a role. The 60-year-old Hollywood legend is famous for his dedication to method acting and the technique has earned him countless awards over his career, including three Oscars.
