Taoiseach in appeal over Rose murder
TAOISEACH Leo Varadkar has held talks with senior gardai probing the killing of pensioner Rose Hanrahan.
The 78-year-old was found strangled in her home in Limerick city last month.
Mr Varadkar warned if those responsible for the “brutal” crime are allowed to run free they “could do the same to another person”.
No arrests have yet been made and the Fine Gael leader called on anyone with details to assist gardai.
He said: “I know there is a very active investigation under way. I’d urge anyone who has any information to come forward. It really was a brutal crime.”
Residents have been living in fear since the popular pensioner’s body was found at her Thomondgate house on December 15.
Supt Derek Smart, who is leading the probe, this week said no extra resources are required as his team’s expertise is A WOMAN aged 83 is in an induced coma after falling out of a window while fleeing burglars.
The terrifying break-in happened at her home in Aughnacloy, Co Tyrone, on Tuesday night. The PSNI, “driving the investigation on”.
