MADD ABOUT THE BOY AND NO WONDER..

- BY JACOB MURTAGH

NORWICH

Maddison 5 TIMM KLOSE is confident James Maddison will stay at Norwich despite Premier League interest.

The England Under-21 international has caught the eye this season, attracting the attention of Manchester City, Liverpool, Tottenham and West Ham – among others.

The youngster showed why scouts are flocking to Carrow Road with a ninth goal this term to inflict in-form Brentford’s first home defeat since August.

Maddison (above) picked up the ball 30 yards out before smashing an unstoppable shot past Daniel Bentley into the top corner.

Norwich cashed in on midfielder Alex Pritchard to Huddersfield for £11million earlier in the window but Klose is hopeful Maddison will not follow him.

The Swiss defender said: “I think James is going to stay with us, he’s happy here.

“He’s young and he’s from England, that’s all you need.

“You’ve seen in the past what can happen to those players and that will carry on.

“If you’re an offensive midfield player and you score that many goals and be that influential, then that’s always a good sign.”

Brentford’s preparations were disrupted when striker Lasse Vibe was pulled out of the squad ahead of an impending transfer.

Skipper Nico Yennaris said: “We’ve shown in the past that if players do leave then others can step up and do well. It’s an opportunity for the other boys.”
