Hooking up radio job tops Lotto jackpot for Dr Ciara
DR CIARA Kelly has admitted taking over George Hook’s Newstalk radio show is better than winning the Lotto.
And the former GP, who replaced Hook after he was kicked off air for his controversial rape comments, said she didn’t feel any pressure replacing the 77-year-old.
Speaking to the Irish Mirror, the Operation Transformation star added: “I didn’t think about it because if you did you would start to feel too nervous to go on air. And the show is a different show.
“We cover different topics in a new way, so the two of us couldn’t be more different.”
The mum of four, 45, said she is still on a high after landing her dream job.
She added: “I love radio and writing. I kept saying to people, ‘I feel like I’ve won the Lotto’ and then I realised this is actually better.
“With this I get to do what I enjoy all day. I get to meet very interesting people and work with a great team.”
Dr Ciara said Hook gave her his blessing when Newstalk awarded her slot on the Lunchtime Live show.
She added: “He was lovely about it all and congratulated me.”
Dr Ciara is also set to impress with her stint in the new series of TV3’S The Restaurant.
She said: “I was buttercream, all the bad stuff, it certainly wasn’t Operation Transformation style. But you can have treats on occasion.”
I get to do what I enjoy all day. George was lovely about it and he congratulated me DR CIARA KELLY SPEAKING YESTERDAY ON REPLACING HOOK’S HIGH NOON SHOW
