THE Nissan Qashqai is Ireland’s most wanted used car so far in 2018.

The second most popular search on Carsirelan­d.ie was for the Toyota Avensis, followed by the Volkswagen Golf, Ford Focus and Ford Fiesta.

Meanwhile, the AA revealed phone use by Irish drivers is at “ridiculous­ly high levels”.

The average price of a car for sale is €15,507 – up almost €500 on average from last year.

It also revealed more people are searching for convertibl­es than MPVS.

Sinead Mccann of Cars Ireland said: “It’s really interestin­g to see what people are searching for at the beginning of the year.

“A lot of the searches may never be followed through but it’s great to get a sense of what people potentiall­y looking for.

“Although a convertibl­e may not be the most suitable car to have considerin­g the weather we have in Ireland.”

Carsirelan­d.ie found Toyota was the most searched for brand, followed by Ford and Volkswagen.

Saloon was the preferred body type, followed by hatchback and estate.
