Plea over axe of food jobs

-

SIPTU has urged Kerry Foods’ bosses to reconsider a threat to make 31 workers redundant without agreement.

It claims management at the plant in Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan, were forcing staff to leave at the start of next month with no deal in place.

Siptu’s Jim Mcveigh said: “If jobs must be lost the fair way forward is to put in place a decent voluntary scheme that would allow workers who wished to go, to leave, and those who want to stay, to remain.

“To date, the company has refused to reconsider its position.”
