HUGHES HANDED CALL-UP

NATHAN HUGHES was last night recalled by England in place of injured No.8 Sam Simmonds.

Hughes (above) proved his fitness with a 25-minute cameo for Wasps against Harlequins on Sunday.

His return could not be better timed as Simmonds damaged a shoulder during the win over Wales and is unlikely to be fit to face Scotland on Saturday week.

Fellow forwards Joe Marler, James Haskell and Charlie Ewels join Hughes in returning to the Red Rose squad for two days of live scrummaging with Georgia.

Eddie Jones continues to freshen up his squad by picking uncapped teenagers Gabriel Ibitoye and Sam

Moore, Harlequins wing and Sale No.8 respectively. They are in the group to learn and train but not play.
