RYAN BINS IBF FOR PAREJO FIGHT

- BY BERNARD O’NEILL

RYAN BURNETT has vacated his IBF title ahead of next month’s WBA Super World bantamweight title defence against Venezuela’s Yonfrez Parejo at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.

They meet over 12 rounds on the Anthony Joshua versus Joseph Parker world heavyweight blockbuster on March 31.

Undefeated Burnett, left, who claimed Olympic Youth gold and World Youth silver for Ireland in 2010, can’t wait to fight in Wales.

He said: “I’m delighted to be added to this show. It’s going to be an incredible experience to defend my world title in front of 80,000 in Cardiff.”

Burnett’s promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed the Irishman will meet his WBA obligations.

“The IBF called an interim title bout between (Emmanuel) Rodriguez and (Lee) Haskins so we proceeded to make the fight with our WBA mandatory Parejo,” he said.

“Last week we were notified that that bout would no longer take place and that Rodriguez’s team were not willing to negotiate and they called immediate purse bids. Our deal was already in place with Parejo so we will vacate our IBF title and continue to face our WBA mandatory.”
