Irish punter misses out on huge Euromillions jackpot

- BY BRYNMOR PATTISON

AN Irish punter missed out on a mega Euromillions jackpot by a Lucky Star.

However, the local player still scooped €333,913 in Tuesday night’s draw – one of four across Europe.

The winning Quick Pick ticket was sold at The Reeks Gateway Centra on the Tralee Road in Killarney, Co Kerry.

The lucky numbers for the Euromillions draw were 10, 13, 17, 21, 44 and the Lucky Stars were 1 and 10.

The winner came close to landing the €138million prize – missing out by one Lucky Star. Meanwhile, a Carlow punter is toasting a major Euromillions win after netting €75,000 at a Boylesports shop.

The customer, who wishes to remain anonymous, bet on 10, 17 and 44 to be drawn.

Boylesports offers odds of 1500/1 for three numbers to be selected in the Euromillions. The Carlow punter’s €50 stake resulted in a return of €75,050.

The win took Boylesports’ Lotto payouts beyond the €300,000 mark since Saturday after a Co Kildare player scooped more than €250,000.

They had placed a €3 bet at 125,000/1 in Saturday night’s Lotto draw.

Boylesports spokesman Lawrence Lyons said: “We’re seeing life-changing sums of money being won on our Lotto betting recently and we send huge congratulations to the Carlow customer who only needed three numbers to walk away with €75,000.

“The Carlow win rubbed salt in our wounds after we paid out more than €257,000 to a Kildare man who staked just €3 on Saturday night, so needless to say the Lotto numbers have made it a bruising week for us at HQ.”
