Biggest baby tipped scales at 12lbs 9oz

A BABY weighing over 12 pounds and another weighing just 14 ounces were delivered to mothers in Dublin maternity hospitals last year.

Records released to The Irish Mirror revealed the 12lbs 9oz tot was born at the National Maternity Hospital in Holles Street.

Eight more tots arrived at the NMH and Rotunda Hospital last year weighing over 11lbs, heavier than a 28ins flat-screen TV.

Meanwhile, the capital’s lightest newborn delivered at the Rotunda, tipped the scales at just 14oz.

Three more babies born in both the NMH and Rotunda weighed just 1lb 2oz.
