Gunners set sights on Shaw

- BY JAMES NURSEY

ARSENAL and Chelsea are both monitoring Luke Shaw’s contract talks with Manchester United.

Old Trafford boss Jose Mourinho has confirmed Shaw is in line for a new deal in a big turnaround for the England left-back.

Mourinho has been publicly critical in the past but has handed the fit-again defender five starts in United’s eight games so far this year.

Mirror Sport understands negotiations are yet to start despite the star’s contract being up in 2019.

Shaw is keen to secure his long-term future at the club, but it looks like he may have to wait for a new deal which could see his wages of £80,000-a-week brought in line with

United’s other senior stars on around £120k to £150k.

The delay has alerted both the Gunners and Chelsea who are likely to be in the market for a new leftback this summer.

Nacho Monreal will have just one year left on his Arsenal contract this summer, while Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso is tipped for a return to Spain.

United are meanwhile eyeing Spurs left-back Danny Rose and Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon.
