Robot assistant ROBOT refs who never make a mistake will officiate at football games by 2030, experts predict.
They will quickly replace the recently introduced Video Assistant Referee in football games of the future, it is claimed.
Futurologist Dr Ian Pearson said: “Developments in technology will mean there will be possibilities for tech to be introduced into sport to help benefit it, much like VAR.
“Robots are possible, but if it will be adopted by fans is another question.”
A report by bookmaker Betbright predicts robot jockeys and gladiator-style bot v bot boxing matches.
The firm will unveil a prototype robo-jockey at the Cheltenham Festival next month.

THIRTEEN Russians have been indicted by the US investigation into alleged interference in the Presidential election.
The probe named the Russian Internet Research Agency and two other firms over claims they coordinated efforts to support Donald Trump and trash Hillary Clinton.
Russian government agency Glavset was accused of employing more than 1,000 trolls in a complex campaign to destabilise the 2016 American election.
Russians allegedly sent money to the US to cover the cost of building “a cage large enough to hold an actress depicting Clinton in a prison uniform” for a campaign.
The 37-page indictment filed by Special A PLAYBOY model claims she had a nine-month affair with Donald Trump – and one of his pals buried her story ahead of his election win.
Karen Mcdougal allegedly began secret romps with the President in 2006, just months after wife Melania gave birth to their youngest son, Barron.
She said the tycoon, 71, would always meet her in the same Los Angeles hotel and order a meal of steak and mashed potato before they had sex.
But she claims the fling was covered up six days before the 2016 election, when US tabloid National Enquirer paid $150,000 (€120,000) for exclusive rights and then never published the story.
The National Enquirer told the New Yorker magazine the story was canned because it was not considered credible.
But “catch and kill”, where exclusives are bought and buried, is a favoured tactic of National Enquirer publisher David Pecker – a close friend of Trump.
In a handwritten account obtained by the New Yorker, Ms Mcdougal claims she met Trump at a Playboy Mansion pool party and they had a first date in the Beverly Hills Hotel, where other women claim he has taken them.
Ms Mcdougal, Playmate of the Year in 1998, wrote: “I was into his intelligence
With Melania and charm. Such a polite man. We talked for a couple hours – then, it was ON! We got naked and had sex.”
Ms Mcdougal claims Trump offered her cash afterwards and she declined.
She said they met in the same hotel every time he went to LA, which was “a lot”, and she was escorted there by a Trump bodyguard. Two other women claiming to have had trysts with Trump have identified him as Keith Schiller, who became director of Oval Office Operations and deputy assistant to the President but was sacked last year.
Ms Mcdougal claims Trump also took her to private residences including Trump Tower – where he pointed out Melania’s separate bedroom and said she “liked her space to read or be alone”.
Her pal John Crawford claims she ended the fling in 2007 as she “couldn’t look at herself in the mirror any more”.
He said she worried what her mum thought, claiming Trump referred to her as an “old hag” when she brought it up.
A White House spokesman said the President denied Ms Mcdougal’s claims and the story was “more fake news”. Counsel Robert Mueller says Glavset “had a strategic goal to sow discord in the US political system, including the 2016 US presidential election”.
Mr Trump has repeatedly denied Russian interference in the election.
The Russian Foreign Ministry last night said the allegations were “absurd”.
