COMMON TOUCH ALWAYS CRUCIAL

- BY JOHN FALLON

Roscommon Galway Tomorrow, Hyde Park, 2pm

v GALWAY defender Declan Kyne says they will not lack incentive when they take on Roscommon in the FBD League final.

Roscommon stunned Galway in the Connacht final in their own backyard last summer.

This is the fourth year in a row that Galway and Roscommon have met in the FBD League final, with the Tribesmen bidding to complete a first ever three-in-a-row.

Galway will be bidding for their ninth FBD title in all while Roscommon hunt a fourth success.

Bosses Kevin Walsh and Kevin Mcstay are likely to use the final to try out players who have not featured much in the opening rounds of the Allianz League.

Galway have chalked up three wins, while Roscommon have a win, a loss and a draw to date.

Galway defender Kyne had the honour of skippering the Tribesmen when they beat Leitrim at his home club Clonbur en route to the decider.

“It was a proud moment, I never thought when I was young lad that I would be captaining Galway on my home pitch. But it was nice to see all the locals out watching and all the kids.”

On tomorrow’s final, he added: “Every cup counts so both Roscommon and ourselves will be all out for the win. There are a lot of new lads in the panel this year. It’s their chance to get the jersey and keep it for the year.”
