Plastic is not so fantastic

-

The fact the Government is allowing a bank to hand the home loans of thousands of families to entities which would sell their own mothers if the price was right is proof of the contempt Fine Gael has for ordinary people.

While few people here would expect any better from Permanent TSB they deserve better from those charged with protecting them.

There can be little doubt the current Government has a soft spot for the vultures with the previous Finance Minister Michael Noonan lavishing praise on those who have caused dreadful distress to so many families here.

When challenged on the matter by Antiausterity Alliance TD Ruth Coppinger Mr Noonan replied: “It was a compliment when they were so dubbed in America because vultures carry out a very good service in the ecology. They clean up dead animals that are littered across the landscape.”

The dead animals in this case are the thousands of families who are in chronic arrears.

Irish Mortgage Holders Organisation chief David Hall is right when he claims lives, as well as homes, will be lost.

Fianna Fail and the other opposition parties have a duty to ensure this sell-off is stopped. AS well as polluting the land, it has now been proven beyond doubt that plastic is increasingly contaminating our seas.
