On Clubhouse with Mario Rosenstock On BT Sport last year DONNCHA O’callaghan has revealed he loves doing lighthearted TV shows as rugby analysis can be “so negative”.

The 38-year-old former Ireland star is set to hang up his boots at the end of the season and has been making a move into broadcasting. Donncha was recruited as a coach for Ireland’s Fittest Family and fronts TV3’S rugby entertainment show Clubhouse with Mario Rosenstock.

And the Worcester Warriors player said he doesn’t see himself following in several former stars’ footsteps in becoming a pundit, as he doesn’t like being critical. Donncha told the Irish Mirror: “Those are two shows I’ve really enjoyed and I’d to do more on that side of it as opposed to the rugby. “Everyone is so harsh and tough on the coaches, the players. Everything seems so negative around it – as opposed to spending an afternoon with Mario and having fun. “It’s a rugby programme no doubt but the emphasis is on having a bit of craic.

“It’s the same with Ireland’s Fittest Families, I really enjoy it. I remember watching it at home and that’s why I got involved.” The Live Well With Centra ambassador lives in the UK and only gets home to Cork for a couple of days during the week.

And Donncha gushed about his wife Jennifer who looks after their daughters Anna, Robin and Sophie and their son Jake by herself while he’s away. He said: “My wife is incredible. I know I sound like the biggest [softie] saying that, but just everything she’s done for our family.

“My biggest thing I find is I rarely give out to my kids because I’m there for such a short, limited amount of time that I just want them to like me. That’s not good, I need to be there for them more and help them more.”
