-

LONG Lost Family has been a rip-roaring success for ITV.

After seven series, the Baftawinning show with Nicky Campbell and Davina Mccall, by Wall to Wall, returns later this year to continue its mission to reunite family members.

So what’s this coming up on Channel 4 later this year? One Click Has Stephen Mangan gone mad? Tonight, he will try to put The Archers into Room 101.

Yes, the much-loved Radio 4 saga of farming life in sleepy Ambridge – where there are affairs, sudden deaths, murders, scandals and unexpected pregnancies aplenty. What’s not to love?

The Episodes and Bliss star makes his case by saying: “Let’s start with the theme, which manages to be both jaunty and terrifying. It’s like it was written by the child catcher from

Chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang.”

He concludes: “The main problem is it has been going for 625 years – it’s never going to end. Please, please put us out of our misery.”

One insider whispers: “This is one of the most controversial choices.” Away aims to, ahem, reunite family members who have been separated.

A flyer asks: “Have you lost touch with your mum or dad but know where they are? Maybe you can see your sibling on social media even though you’ve not spoken?

“One Click Away follows people as they make contact with a family member they no longer speak to.” In case things go a bit Jeremy Kyle, this new version of Long Lost Family, from Electric Ray, will have a separation expert to “guide family members”. And stop any punch-ups.
