Phil Hogan PHIL Hogan yesterday criticised Boris Johnson for his remarks on the Irish border question.

Ireland’s EU Commssioner was responding to his comparison to the congestion charge in London.

Mr Hogan said: “People like Boris Johnson, he has belittled the importance of the Good Friday Agreement...by comparing the type of solution to the border issue as similar to a congestion charge between two London boroughs.

“He is not the mayor of a London borough, he is actually the Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and I think he should know his place.”

Mr Hogan told RTE Radio One’s Sean O’rourke Show it is very frustrating trying to deal with a divided British Government.

He said: “Rather than red lines we have seen accentuated from the beginning of this process, we need clear lines.”

SLIGO YESTERDAY

KIAN Egan’s wife has told how she would love Westlife to reunite so their children could see their dad perform on stage.

Former Hollyoaks actress Jodi Albert admitted she is one of thousands of fans that are hoping the boyband will reform after their five-year hiatus.

Jodi, 34, married Kian in 2009 and the couple live together in Sligo with their three boys Koa, six, Zekey, three, and one-year-old Cobi.

She told the Irish Mirror: “If Westlife ever happen again I think it would be wonderful for our children.

“They’re just getting to the age where if they saw daddy on stage they’d start to understand.

“Our eldest Koa knows daddy was in Westlife and he used to listen to the Westlife albums when I wanted to get him to sleep.

“The album I put on for him was the one the lads were touring when

I was pregnant so it was really weird.

“For all of us if they were to get back together it would be a family affair, it would be great – we’d all go touring.”

The former actress, who has teamed up with Indigo Nails lab, admitted she has put her own career on hold to raise her boys.

Jodi said: “Me and Kian don’t have any help at the moment so it’s full on with the babies and I had to make sure they were the priority.

“What a lot of people don’t realise about me is I’ve been working since the age of 10, earning Nicky, Mark, Shane and Kian performing my own money and putting myself through school. I’ve done a lot of acting and performing in general.

“I hit a point where I started a family and decided I really wanted to be a full-on full-time mum because thank God we’re blessed for me to be able to choose.”

As for being the big celebs in Sligo, Jodi said the locals pay no heed to the famous couple.

She added: “People in Sligo just know we’re part of the furniture, they’re not fazed by it, it’s not a big deal. Everyone’s very friendly, they’re just so used to the Westlife Sligo boys – Shane, Mark and Cian – coming in and out it’s the norm.”

The ex-wonderland singer also revealed how surf-mad Kian can’t wait for Storm Emma to come crashing into Sligo.

She said: “Kian is surfing all the time you would think he’s training to be a professional at the moment, literally it’s taken over.

“He’s a wonderful daddy and so hands-on but when he’s not being a daddy he’s in the water like a fish. There’s a whole surfing community, they message each other when the waves are breaking.

“While the rest of the country are on lockdown, all the surfers are like, ‘Yay there’s a storm coming, there’s gonna be waves’.

“I just love what it does for him and his soul and his health. I do tell him to be careful and not to put himself in danger.”

It would be great, it would be a family affair. We’d all go touring JODI ALBERT
