HPV cancer kills 130 Irish people a year
UP to 130 Irish people die from cancers caused by Human Papilloma Virus each year, research has revealed.
Yesterday marked the launch of the first International HPV Awareness Day and the Irish Cancer Society said it caused up to 420 cases of the disease in men and women each year between 2010 and 2014.
The research also found two thirds of Irish adults are unaware that HPV can cause cancer.
ICS spokesman Donal Buggy said “This research shows we have much more work to do to ensure everyone has access to correct information about the HPV vaccination.”
