Social care firm union snub blasted

-

A COMPANY in receipt of millions of euro in State contracts is refusing to engage with the Workplace Relations Commission.

Trade union Unite represents close to 60% of staff working for social care provider Extern.

Last week it briefed Oireachtas members on the organisation’s repeated refusal either to recognise the trade union or to engage at the WRC.

Unite Regional Organiser Roy Hassey said: “Despite the fact Extern receives millions of euro is State funding the organisation has refused to negotiate collectively with its employees through the union of their choice.”
