Martin in telly comedy return

Martin Freeman is to return to TV comedy after almost a decade.

The Office, Sherlock and Black Panther star has shot a pilot with Michael Gambon and Uncle’s Daisy Haggard for the BBC and FX in the US, says comedy website Chortle.

Breeders is written by Simon Blackwell – creator of Back and a writer on The Thick of It and Veep – and The Inbetweene­rs’ Ben Palmer is director.

Martin came up with the as-yetunknown plot. He told Jocks and Nerds magazine last year: “I’ve got a comedy in the pipeline I’m helping to create – based on a dream I had. I’m getting together with a very good writer and a very good director and we’re hammering that out.”

The pilot was shot in London in January but will not be broadcast. The series could be on screen this year. Freeman is working on TV show
