ROY SHEAHAN claimed the inaugural Last Man Standing middleweig­ht title and a €25,000 purse after at Dublin’s National Stadium on Saturday night.

The former Irish and EU Elite amateur gold medalist beat Corknative Vladimir Belujsky, Mullingar ace JJ Mcdonagh and unbeaten Bolton prospect Jack Cullen.

“Everything worked to plan, what Steve (O’rourke) told me. I caught him with a big shot. That’s it, twenty five (grand) in the bank,” said Kildare-native Sheahan.

“What next I don’t know. If Conor Mcgregor wants it, no problem,” added the No. 3 seed but bookies favourite to win.

Dominic O’rourke, President of the Irish Athletic Boxing Associatio­n said: “There’ll be massive celebratio­ns and he totally deserves it. Winning three fights in one night is demanding.”
