MEDAL

- BY CRAIG SWAN

ODSONNE EDOUARD has only been at Celtic for seven months but he’s on the verge of having a special place in Parkhead folklore.

The French kid has never won a senior winner’s medal. At the age of 20, he has only trophies and gongs from his youth days, yet this could be set to change dramatically.

Top of the Premiership and in the Scottish Cup semi-finals after a Betfred Cup triumph last November, Celtic are on the verge of an unprecedented feat – becoming back-to-back Treble winners for the first time in Scottish football history.

Edouard said: “If we were to win the treble, it would be historic. It would show again

These feel like special times for Celtic. There’s a great ambience around..

STEPHEN ROBINSON says Motherwell are hellbent on reaching the Scottish Cup Final for banned skipper Carl Mchugh.

The Donegal midfielder (left) rocketed his team into the last four with a sensational late strike to dump Hearts 2-1 at Tynecastle. But a first-half booking will rule him out of the Hampden showpiece. But former Northern Ireland international Robinson is adamant Mchugh’s absence will be an extra motivation.

The Motherwell boss said: “Did I see the goal coming? On Carl’s right foot? No!

“He maybe doesn’t get all the plaudits but what he does in front of the back four is excellent. Unfortunately he is going to miss the semi-final after picking up a booking. That is a travesty for the boy.

Now we have to make sure we get to the final to give him his just rewards.”

But Mchugh admits the most important thing was the team making Hampden. He said: “I’m gutted to miss the semi-final but it’s not about me, it’s about the boys.

“We’re so happy to be going back to Hampden and we’ve got plenty of boys who can come in and do a great job. I’m more than confident they can get us to a final again.”
