IRISH TV star Angela Scanlon has given birth to her first child, it has been revealed.

The presenter, who hosted The One Show on the BBC while Alex Jones was on maternity leave, has had a little girl named Ruby.

Angela, from Ratoath in Co Meath, revealed she gave birth on February 25 but didn’t make the big announcement until yesterday.

She shared a photo of the newborn’s feet on her Instagram feed, alongside two teddy bears – one with the baby’s name inscribed on its jumper.

The new mum wrote: “Ruby Ellen Horgan..born 25.02.18 at 3.29 am – she is a dreamboat and we are so happy this little woman is ours. Welcome to the world, peach”.

Angela’s showbiz friends were quick to offer their congratulations, with comedian Joanne Mcnally and novelist Amanda Brunker among the first.

The 33-year-old, who is married to Roy Horgan, announced her pregnancy late last year with a cute photo of herself dressed in a pink suit, pointing both index fingers towards her baby bump.

She wrote: “SO. I’ve been baking for six months now... and I’ve made a bun.

“It’s currently in the oven and will be ready by springtime.

“We are so, SO thrilled (since I’ve taken my head out of the toilet bowl) and can’t wait to welcome a mad, wonderful little human into our world.” Angela Scanlon
