Tenor Amdur charged with €129k fraud
Andrew Amdur A TOP opera singer has appeared in court charged with cheating a woman out of €129,000.
Andrew Amdur, 47, a world-class tenor who has sung the national anthem at Twickenham, is accused of cheating Elizabeth Shaheen out of €90,000 by telling her the money, transferred from her bank account, was for charity.
He is also accused of lying to her about €28,000 to buy her a new kitchen and €11,000 he needed to sing at L’escargot restaurant in Soho, London.
Amdur, of Golders Green, North London, denied three counts of fraud by false representation.
He was given conditional bail by Westminster magistrates to appear at Southwark crown court on April 3.
