I’d urge the lady who doesn’t want to take advantage of the breast screening service to think again (Dear Coleen, Feb 19).
Two years ago my sister went for screening (very reluctantly) and thank goodness she did, as it detected breast cancer.
Luckily it was easy to treat, and after a mastectomy and reconstruction, no further treatment was needed.
At the time there were no outward signs of any kind, so who knows what would have happened if she hadn’t gone for screening. Jean Shelton, via email
