Bill targeting sex offenders nears finish

-

A LAW that will see repeat sex offenders behind bars for longer is one step closer to reality.

The Government agreed to go ahead with the Bill to provide greater protection for women and children.

It’s mainly based on proposals introduced by Minister of State for the Office of Public Works Kevin “Boxer” Moran.

He said: “My motivation is a result of meeting a constituent Debbie Cole, who has long campaigned for victims of sex offenders.

“I am absolutely delighted that I have been in a position to effect change and the fact this Bill is now being legislated for reflects the change.”
