New jury for baby murder accused trial

A NEW jury has been sworn in to hear the trial of a father accused of murdering his baby son.

Justice Patrick Mccarthy discharged the original jury yesterday morning on day four of the Central Criminal Court trial.

John Tighe, 40, of Lavallyroe in Ballyhaunis, Co Mayo, has pleaded not guilty to murdering Joshua Sussbier Tighe at his home on June 1, 2013.

Justice Mccarthy explained the delay caused by last week’s weather meant the case would likely carry on into next week. One of the jurors, however, had a prior commitment. The trial continues today.
