Bail refused for Lidl raid suspect

-

A FATHER of one has been refused bail after he was charged with handling €1,400 of stolen goods taken during a supermarket looting.

Last Friday’s snow storm saw Lidl at Fortunestown Lane in Tallaght, South Dublin, suffer extensive damage.

Liam Walsh, 26, from Ard Mor Drive in the town, appeared at Dublin District Court yesterday.

Garda Stephen Murray said the store was burgled and “extensive damage was caused by a large excavator”.

It is alleged perishable and electrical goods were stored in the back bedroom and in the kitchen of Walsh’s home.

The court heard a search warrant was obtained resulting in the items being recovered.

Walsh’s solicitor Michael French said his unemployed client denied the charge.

Judge Grainne O’neill refused bail and remanded Walsh in custody to appear at Cloverhill District Court next Tuesday.
