1% building site workers are female
ONLY 1% of people working on construction sites are female, a survey has revealed.
However, 46% of “offsite” roles in the construction industry are occupied by women.
The Construction Industry Federation survey found 10% of the overall workforce are female and it is aiming to increase this to 25% by 2030.
A CIF spokesman said yesterday: “Increasing the proportion of women in construction can yield significant increases in output and productivity.
“Studies have shown increasing female participation, particularly in managerial roles, can improve profitability by up to 15%.”
