MIXED NEWS FOR CLUBS

- PAT NOLAN

MARTIN FARRAGHER is free to play in the All-ireland club football final after his bizarre red card in Corofin’s semifinal win over Moorefield.

Farragher was dismissed by referee Derek O’mahoney for an innocuous incident in the first minute of the game with Moorefield defender Liam Healy which was widely pilloried in the aftermath.

O’mahoney’s blushes were spared somewhat as Corofin went on to dig out a 1-6 to 0-6 victory to book a final spot against Nemo Rangers on St Patrick’s Day.

Farragher’s hearing was delayed until Wednesday night due to the weather and the Central Hearings Committee unsurprisingly rescinded the red card.

The news wasn’t so good for hurling finalists Na Piarsaigh, who failed in their efforts to have red cards issued to Conor Boylan and Tommy Grimes in their semifinal win overturned.

The pair have the option of going to the Central Appeals Committee ahead of their final date with holders Cuala.
