‘Government must act on Tusla issues’

- BY GAVIN O’CALLAGHAN

Catherine Zappone THE Youth Minister is failing to protect “vulnerable children” who are being neglected by Tusla, Fianna Fail has claimed.

Anne Rabbite called on Catherine Zappone to deal with issues faced by The Child And Family Protection Agency as it was found to be “noncompliant” in five of it’s six standards.

She said: “Vulnerable children who are at risk of neglect or abuse are falling between the cracks as a result of this.

“One of the key issues is the lack of accountability when it comes to the handling of referrals.

“This has been a longrunning problem, but we have seen little in the way of action from Minister Zappone.”
