A MEXICAN trade delegation comes to Gilead, visiting the Commander’s home to examine the effects of the regime.
Offred is questioned by the head of the group – a woman – about her experience of the movement but holds back on her true feelings.
Before the delegates leave the next day, however, she tells the Mexican ambassador the truth about life in Gilead and desperately pleads for their help.
Could this spell a possible end to her hell as a Handmaid? Meanwhile, we’re also given a glimpse into Serena’s life before the regime took over.
Once a conservative cultural activist, she was a fighter for women’s rights and even penned her own book.
Much has since changed in both her professional life and marriage since the movement.
