Put hand on your heart for Paddy’s Day

HEALTH campaigners are urging St Patrick’s Day marchers to take a stand for cardiac services.

The Hand On Heart campaign has been pushing for 24/7 care for the South East.

Organisers want all those in the Waterford parade to place their palm across their chest as they pass the viewing stand in a nod to their initiative.

University Hospital Waterford has just one cath lab that only opens during office hours – serving 500,000 people.

If a patient suffers a heart attack in the evening or over the weekend they have to travel to Cork.
